Most importantly, they would become acceptive and optimistic in many ways.

It does not only focus on the development of children mentally, physically, and socially. They do not just learn those basic steps in dancing, but rather, more genres of music, cultures and styles from different countries are also taught to them by of course, those professionals. This is why, spending for this is more than okay.

The effects of the decision that parents make for their child is really relevant for the growth of the latter. Hence, enrolling kids in some dance classes is a good decision to make. Those who have experienced and had any opportunity in having lessons like this and in some schools, they become more flexible, interesting, creative, confident and expressive as they become older and continue with their lives.

By Stephanie Wallace

From its brutal to some degree underground beginnings, MMA has developed into a genuine work of art. To start with, MMA was a Mix of the Martial Arts. It was the Karate gentleman against the Judo fellow. It was more about the artistic expression and less about the opposition. There was no weight classes, any size contender against any size contender. Why karate lessons for kids long island is significant.

It was an additionally a battle between the diverse sorts of Martial Arts to see what one drizzled preeminently. Around then, before all else, no doubt karate is what you need to live holistic life. It didn't take a dangerous solid man to demonstrate everybody that the greater they were, the harder they fell.

It is likewise the best type of self-protection against any sudden assault from offenders if an individual can't bear to purchase Taser weapon as his self-preservation instrument. Any Martial expressions can be a decent type of activity too. It shows you with the essential aptitudes that you need which can be exceptionally helpful at whatever point you will experience battles or when you are under assault. Besides, it additionally helps in building your self-assurance and order making you end up a completely created person.

The boxer understood that if the Jujitsu-man got him down on the ground, he would have the high ground. So the boxer likewise prepared in Jujitsu or wrestling to counter the bring down. So it was no more the Black Belt in Jujitsu against the Black Belt in Karate, it start to be the Wrestler that ranks in boxing against the shoot warrior. As a rule, numerous youngsters have exceeded expectations in this kind of action. Most folks like to have their children selected in a Martial Arts school so they can be prepared at a before time furthermore for them to learn diverse counter assault abilities that will shield them in instances of crisis.

There are numerous sorts, there are the contenders that work everything and have no belts in any of the artistic expressions. Some Fighters hold dark belts in one original fine art and work everything, and there are contenders that have low belts in various fine arts.

A contender needs to discover their quality and spotlight on that, additionally needs to work genuinely hard all alone shortcoming. I think it changes from contender to warrior and the quality and failure that he or she has. I think the genuine Mixed Martial Arts Fighter is somebody that has a style that is blended with various works of art.

All things considered, the control is not one single work of art, but rather what it takes for the warrior to perform at his or her best and is not quite the same as contender to contender. I think the inquiry has changed structure what fine art or control is the best to what warrior is the best. This is the best lesson that you will ever give your child that they will find helpful for years. Children need karate to live holistic lives because it trains them to be self reliant.

Heeling _on _leash:How to train your dog

dog

Heeling and walking on a loose leash are two different exercises. When you
take Buddy for a walk to give him exercise, or in order to do his business,
he’s on his own time. He can sniff, look around, or just aimlessly wander
about, so long as he doesn’t pull. For those times when you walk him on a
busy sidewalk or in an area with traffic, Buddy needs to learn the “Heel”
command.

Heeling means Buddy has to walk ?

Heeling means Buddy has to walk at your left side, the traditional position,
while paying strict attention to you and staying with you as you change direction
or pace. When your dog is heeling, he’s now on your time. Buddy’s
responsibility is to focus on you, and you have to teach him to accept that
responsibility. Buddy has to learn to heel whether you make a right turn, left
turn, do an about-face turn, run, or slow walk. The key to teaching heeling is
to get Buddy to pay attention to you.
Heeling is used for walking your dog in traffic — when you need absolute
control — and for competitive obedience events. The American Kennel Club
(AKC) definition of heeling is walking “close to the left side of the handler
without swinging wide, lagging, forging, or crowding,” either on a loose leash
or off leash.

Teaching your dog to sit at heel

Before teaching Buddy to heel with both of you walking, you’re going to teach
him what to do when you stop, which is called the Automatic Sit at Heel:
  1.  Attach your leash to the live ring of your dog’s training collar and have him sit at your left side with both of you facing in the same direction while you put the leash over your right shoulder
  2.  Say, “Buddy, heel.”
  3. Take a step forward on your right foot, and then a step with the left
past the right; drop down on your right knee, put your right hand
against your dog’s chest, and fold him into a Sit at Heel position.
Use the same technique to sit your dog described in last article, and
avoid the temptation to push down on his rear end. Keep your hands in
place as you tell him how clever he is.
Buddy already knows the “Sit” command, but you’re now showing him
exactly where you want him to sit. Practice the Sit at Heel about five times or
until both of you feel comfortable with this maneuver.

Body and Load Weight

http://the4powerway.blogspot.com/

Ideally, it is best to select the load-bearing weight as a function of body weight
rather than selecting an absolute load-weight per man. You may not have the flexibility to
tailor the load weight per man due to mission requirements. Therefore, an upper weight
limit for load-bearing should be calculated so the load will not create a higher physical
demand (energy cost) for individuals with smaller stature and lower lean body weight.
Determining the maximum weight of the load is a more important factor affecting
load-bearing than the type of load carriage design. Numerous studies have examined the
optimal load-bearing weight you should maximally carry before there is a disproportional
increase in the rate of energy expenditure. This is calculated as a percentage of body
weight. Although those who are physically fit according to Physical Fitness Test Scores can
typically carry 45% of their body weight for 8 hours at a pace of 4 mph, a lighter load is
considered optimal.

Body and Load Weight

“Rule of Thumb”: A maximal load should be 40% of body
weight. Example: 40% of 170 lbs. is 68 lbs.

energy

The energy cost of the task rises steeply beyond this percentage. It has been reported
that the energy cost of humping with a load increases proportionally with the weight
carried. For loads more than 40% of body weight, the energy expenditure rises
disproportionately and fatigue occurs sooner. The key is to carry your load as close
as possible to your body’s center of gravity. This will result in the
cost when you carry a load, which is evenly distributed, on your back.

Load-Bearing

http://the4powerway.blogspot.com/

Extended humping with a load is one of the most
physically demanding tasks for a SEAL. As a SEAL, you must carry loads into rivers,
jungles, deserts, and mountains as well as arctic areas and be prepared to engage in various
styles of fighting and methods of infiltration. In the planning phase of these missions, Navy
SEAL platoon leaders are frequently faced with decisions as to what type and how much
equipment and ammunition to carry on a mission: common (minimum) and critical
(mission specific) equipment need to be chosen wisely.

The development

The development of multiple weapon systems and state of the art surveillance
equipment has increased the firepower and protection of the individual warrior. However,
the same equipment that is designed to provide a technological advantage in battle may also
provide a load-bearing challenge.
Much remains to be learned about carrying heavy loads for both short and long
distances. Moreover, weather, terrain, water discipline, acclimation status and other factors
that impact load requirements must all be considered.
Both excessive fatigue and muscle strain during
long humps can usually be explained by
inadequate training for the unique physical
demands of this task.

factors

To assist you in maintaining readiness for tasks that involve carrying heavy loads,
the following information is presented:
  • Physiological and environmental factors.
  • Optimizing load-bearing.
  • Physical training for load-bearing.
  • Common medical conditions.

An Overview Concerning Physical Therapy Pennsylvania

By Paul Clark

A number of health complications result from various disorders, accidents and illnesses. They may be severe to the point that normal body functions are difficult to carry out. After a successful operation, patients are required to take part in physical therapy Pennsylvania so as to speed up the recovery process.

The theoretical base from which this field of healthcare is derived from makes stand out. The professionals usually strive to restore and promote the optimal physical functioning of the patient. Progression of the ailment is also countered in due time. Prior to engaging in the program, they record the history of their client and perform a system review. After doing this, they proceed to make the arrangement. Therapy is inevitable after a surgery and is supported by various justifications.

After a surgery, circulation of blood to the injured part is essential. The circulatory system is responsible for decreasing the level of swelling by removing the fluids that may buildup. By engaging in exercises, the patient is able to heal faster as compared to when they do not engage in the therapy.

In the event that an operation is carried out on the lower body part such as the knee and hips, movement becomes difficult. The therapist will therefore, work hand in hand with the patient in a bid to regain full functionality. This can be done through developing a treatment plan with achievable objectives. In the long run, mobility is restored and the individual may go back engaging in intense activities such as running.

Seeking the services of such professionals also helps the patient in taking charge of his or her own treatment exercise. Such patients are known to have good experiences with their therapists when compared to others with no professional support. In addition to that, they are given the opportunity to come up with weigh in on decisions made. Physical therapy has proven to be a proactive way of staying healthy.

It is also convenient to know what to expect in such programs. Problems with the limb require him or her to exercise frequent manipulation. The other exercise to be performed is balancing and coordination. When a patient frequently engages in this form of training, autonomy will gradually be realized. The most common of them is massaging. The area next to the injured part is massaged so as to reduce inflammation.

The good thing with therapy is that it can be undertaken in a variety of settings. The goal here is to make the patient as comfortable as possible with the surrounding environment. Some may opt to engage in exercises at home, school, hospital or even nursing homes. When the patient selects the setting, it means that they will be in a position to participate fully in the treatment program.

It is vital to realize that such services are to be offered by professionals. The city of Pennsylvania provides that every one of them need to be licensed prior to attending to a client. Without licensing, they can pose health risks to the patients they are attending to. In this regard, people who find themselves in situations which need therapists have to involve them in a bid to spearhead the recovery process.

Tips On How To Stop Painful Flatfeet While Attending Long Island MMA Classes

By Martha Martin

Having flat feet and fallen arches might be of slight concern to many, however for others, the slightest injure can cause every day distress. This is a setback each time they require to train. By obeying the ideas indicated below, you will be well-versed about preventing pain in flat feet during Long Island MMA classes.

The basic effort in assuring a comfortable training period is to buy quality sneakers that can be able to welcome fallen arches. While looking for the best type of sports shoes, you can let the toe of the sneakers touch the floor and let the heel face the ceiling and then push down on the heel rigidly. A type of shoe that bends in the middle will not help you, and the best thing is you should avoid them.

As you find the shoe of your choice, you can place unique insoles on the inside of the shoe to make it more comfortable. Tailor-made shoe insoles are highly recommended by doctors because they help in readjusting joints and ankle bones, and the result is that they give appropriate backing and a lot of relief as you work out.

Another cause of weak arches is the type of shoes you wear during the day. Avoiding high heels is a good remedy for those who have flat feet because a lot of support is needed. Heels normally put more pressure on your toes and in this way, the arches have none or very minimal support.

Thongs are an ideal option whenever you need feet protected from harmful bacteria normally present at the floor surface of locker rooms but note that continued use is not advised. Those who prefer to wear thongs as they work out-doors, they increase the risk of getting tendinitis for the reason that they make their arch tendons to become extremely overworked. Instead of thongs, prefer use of sandals that have heel cups so as to avoid such.

Before starting your main training, there are a number of warming up exercises that can help in strengthening of arches as well as help prevent injuries. To accomplish this, take a small towel and place it between both feet and attempt lifting it from the ground using pincer like movement.

Whenever one is doing a lesser involving exercise, remaining barefoot is beneficial. People easily neglect their feet as they train because most fitness routines need them to put on shoes. However, whenever feet remain in shoes for long periods, muscle fitness is negatively affected and thus leading to weak arches. By offering feet an opportunity to breathe as well as move as nature intended, rebuilding of weak aches takes place and thus foot health becomes much better.

Being in tip-top shape is a very good thing, but an issue like feet pain makes a workout session a nightmare. You will not enjoy working out if your feet are paining and you will be looking forward to getting out of the gym the soonest. Never give up because if you adhere to the advice above, you will enjoy your training sessions always. Going to the gym will be an enjoyable thing to do because painful feet will be a thing of the past.

Factors To Consider When Looking Into Dry Needling Pennsylvania

By David Myers

For the longest time, therapy has had tremendous benefits in the lives of recovering patients. For dry needling, it can as well be referred to as acupuncture. It is known to be a skilled intervention that mainly consists of introducing a needle into the human body, for the purpose of alleviating pain through manipulation. Therefore, as a patient, it is wise to seek for an expert who has been licensed to perform dry needling Pennsylvania.

These areas that experience pain are termed as motor centers and are often located in the tender areas of the muscles. The moment a patient experiences pressure on these particular points, they tend to feel some pain that is termed as wince pain. At these trigger points, they will all respond equally similar to the stimuli.

Many often, misconstrue dry needling to be a form of manual therapy, while in actual sense it is not. It is vital to insist that this therapy is more of invasive. Therefore, it can be termed as a minor form of surgery. For the case of manual therapy, it cannot be referred to as invasive, since there is some form of mobilization and massaging that is used.

This therapy is not just a simple technique one may opt to conclude. For clarity purposes, the process of inserting these needles into a human for whatever purpose may still be termed as acupuncture. It has been proven to work and has been used for many years by professionals. It needs an individual to be educated on it before practicing it on a human body. Otherwise, it may result in injuries.

In the case of other medical practitioners, who are not well exposed to this therapy, it is important to know that they are not licensed to perform it on patients. If they do, then it will be considered as an illegal act that goes against the law. For the ones who are licensed, they are operating since they have the consent of the state and are seen to be competent in their specialty. There are also laws that work on regulating the sale of such needles to the professional acupuncturist.

You need to be extra careful with these acupuncture professionals. Some may not be qualified and may insist they are performing the procedure without the use of acupuncture needles, while they are doing the contrary. Therefore, it is important that the patient can identify the difference.

For those who obtain insurance covers, it is important to note that acupuncture is not covered by Medicare. For this reason, it is not a service that is covered if they do incorporate it, it can be considered as fraud. In a case where you find yourself in a state where it has been included, then you can as well report it to the authorities.

In the recent past, there has been increased number of cases of injuries that are as a result of the use of acupuncture. Often, this is linked to people who practice these therapy and are not licensed. For maximum benefit, go for an excellent therapist who has the ability and skills to perform the therapy. Therefore, with this insight the patient is better placed and informed on the issues concerning acupuncture.

Dog Understanding the YOU Factor

Understanding the YOU Factor

Several factors influence how successful you’ll be in turning your pet into a

well-trained dog. Some of these are under your direct control, and others

come with your dog.

The factors that are under your direct control are

Your expectations

Your attitude

Your dog’s environment

Your dog’s social needs

Your dog’s emotional needs

Your dog’s physical needs

Your dog’s nutritional needs

There is a direct relationship between your awareness and understanding of

these factors and your success as your dog’s teacher. This section focuses on

the first two factors: your expectations and your attitudes. We deal with the

other factors

dog

Just Who Is Training Whom?
Training is a two-way street: Buddy is just as involved in training you as you

are in trying to train him. The trouble is that Buddy is already a genius at

training you, a skill with which he was born. Put another way, a dog comes

into the world knowing what is to his advantage and what isn’t, and he’ll do

whatever he can to get what he wants. You, on the other hand, have to discover

the skills of training him, just as we had to.

One of these skills is figuring out how to recognize when you’re inadvertently

rewarding behaviors you may not want to reinforce. Begging at the dinner

table is a good example. When Buddy begs at the table and you slip him some

food, he is training you to feed him from the table. You need to ask yourself,

“Is this a behavior I want to encourage?” If the answer is no, then stop doing

it, no matter what.

Most dogs eventually ignore commands that don’t lead to tangible consequences.

When he responds to a command, reward him by praising him. If

he chooses not to respond to a command he has been taught, correct him.

Now look at another situation: Buddy has taken himself for an unauthorized

walk through the neighborhood. You’re late for an appointment but don’t

want to leave with Buddy out on the streets. You frantically call and call.

Finally, Buddy makes an appearance, happily sauntering up to you. You, on

the other hand, are fit to be tied, and you let him know your displeasure in

no uncertain terms by giving him a thorough scolding. You now need to ask

yourself, “Is this the kind of greeting that will make Buddy want to come to

me?” If the answer is no, then stop doing it, no matter what..*
What is an untrained dog?

The untrained dog has few privileges. When

guests come, he is locked away because he is

too unruly. When the family sits down to eat,

he’s locked up or put outside because he begs

at the table. He’s never allowed off leash

because he runs away and stays out for hours

at a time. Nobody wants to take him for a walk

because he pulls, and he never gets to go on

family outings because he’s a nuisance.

Dogs are social animals, and one of the cruelest

forms of punishment is to deprive them of the

opportunity to interact with family members on

a regular basis. Isolating a dog from contact

with humans is inhumane. Spending quality time

with your dog by training him will make him the

beloved pet he deserves to be.
Here are two examples of how your dog is training you:

  • Buddy drops his ball in your lap while you’re watching television andyou throw it for him.
  • Buddy nudges or paws your elbow when you’re sitting on the couch and
    you pet him.
Buddy has trained you well. Is there anything wrong with that? Not at all, provided

you can tell him to go lie down when you don’t feel like throwing the

ball or petting him.

Identifying the Basic Five Commands

Identifying the Basic Five Commands

Every dog needs to know five basic commands: “Sit,” “Go Lie Down,” “Down,”

“Come,” and “Easy.” You can look at these as safety and sanity commands —

your dog’s safety and your sanity.

The “Sit” command

You use the “Sit” command (check out Chapter 7) to teach your dog to sit

politely for petting instead of jumping on people, to sit at the door instead of

barging ahead of you, to sit when you put his food dish on the floor instead of

trying to grab it out of your hand, and anytime you need him to control himself.

See Figure 1-1.

The “Go Lie Down” command

You use the “Go Lie Down” command (see Chapter 7) to send your dog to

a particular place and stay there when you want to eat your meal in peace

instead of having him beg at the table, or when you have company instead of

having him pester your guests.

The “Down” command

You use the “Down” command (see Chapters 7 and 16) when you want him to
down in place and stay there until you release him.

The “Come” command

You need to teach your dog the “Come” command (see Chapters 8 and 14) so
you can call him when you take him for a hike or when he wants to chase a
squirrel, or whatever.

The “Easy” command

You want to teach your dog the “Easy” command (check out Chapter 8) so
that you can walk him on leash without being pulled off your feet.

Well-Trained Dog

Over the course of the last 30 years, dog training has undergone enormous
changes. When we started training dogs in the late 1960s, dogs
were hauled around on choke chains and jerked every which way without
any clue of what was expected of them. They did get trained, but it wasn’t
pretty.
We felt that there was an inherent unfairness in “correcting” a dog that had
no idea why he was being corrected. There had to be a fairer way — a way in
which the dog is systematically taught a command without the use of sheer
brute force.
At that time, the use of food in training was considered anathema, and
when we introduced food in the teaching process, the dog training community
promptly labeled us heretics. Today, the use of food in training is considered
de rigueur. As a result, training has become user-friendlier for you and
your dog.

As a gift to yourself and your dog, as well as your family and your friends and
neighbors, train your dog. Doing so means sanity for you, safety for your dog,
and compliments from people you meet. Make him an ambassador of goodwill
for all dogs. Your dog has a life expectancy of 8 to 16 years. Now is the
time to ensure that these years are mutually rewarding for you and your dog.
This book shows you how to teach him to be the well-trained dog you want
him to be. Believe us, it’s well worth the investment.
Identifying a Well-Trained Dog
A well-trained dog is a joy to have around. He is welcome almost anywhere
because he behaves around people and around other dogs. He knows how to
stay, and he comes when called. He’s a pleasure to take for a walk, and he can
be let loose for a romp in the park. He can be taken on trips and family outings.
He is a member of the family in every sense of the word.
The most important benefit for your dog is your safety, the safety of others,
and his own safety. A dog that listens and does what he’s told rarely gets into
trouble. Instead of being a slave to a leash or a line, a trained dog is truly a
free dog — he can be trusted to stay when told, not to jump on people, to
come when called, and not to chase a cat across the road.
For more than 30 years, we have taught dog training classes, seminars, and
weeklong training camps. We listen carefully when our students tell us what a
well-trained dog should be. First and foremost, they say, he has to be housetrained. After that, in order of importance, a well-trained dog
is one who
  • Doesn’t jump on people
  • Doesn’t beg at the table
  • Doesn’t bother guests
  • Comes when called
  • Doesn’t pull on the leash
Note that these requirements, with one exception, are expressed in the
negative — that is, dog, don’t do that. For purposes of training, you need to
express these requirements in the positive so that you can teach your dog
exactly what you expect from him. (See Chapter 10.) Here is what the new list
of requirements for a well-trained dog looks like:
Sit when I tell you.
Go somewhere and chill out.
Lie down when I tell you and stay there.
Come when called.
Walk on a loose leash.
The “Sit” and “Down-Stay” commands are the building blocks for a welltrained
dog; if Buddy knows nothing else, you can live with him. Of course,
your Buddy might have some additional wrinkles that need ironing out, some
of which are more matters of management than training . He may enjoy landscaping, as do our Dachshunds, who delight in digging holes in
the backyard and can do so with amazing speed and vigor. Unless you’re willing
to put up with what can become major excavation projects, the best
defense is to expend this digging energy with plenty of exercise, training, and
supervision. Another favorite pastime of some dogs is raiding the garbage.
Prevention is the cure here: Put the garbage where your dog can’t get to it.
One of our Dachshunds learned to open the refrigerator by yanking on the
towel we kept draped through the door handle and to help himself to anything

Categories Of Movement Based Treatment

By Mary Howard

Certain routines ought to be introduced into our way of life in order to increase or physical, psychical and divine strength. There are various categories of movement based treatment techniques that can help us achieve high vigor and liveliness. Integrating these activities into our day to day lives will play an important role in maintaining our overall wellbeing.

One of the most prominent forms of treatment is the Eastern therapy. It originated from the south eastern parts of Asia and includes yoga, qigong and tai chi. Initially used in self defense and divine meditation, they have greatly evolved into their modern forms. Taoist monks are the pioneers of certain types of breathing and body movements whose aim was to enhance ones mental capacity. In recent times, they have been assimilated into fitness regimes due to their capacity to enhance youthfulness and resistance to diseases.

The Rolfing treatment incorporates quite unusual techniques combining physicality and verbal communication. This is mostly done with the purpose of making people have an awareness of their erect bearing during normal body undertakings. It helps increase energy, flexibility and harmony with nature. It is commonly used in the rehabilitation of those who have brain injuries and autistic children.

Authentic Motion, commonly known as AM has its foundation on a complex psychical and dance routine. In this form of therapy, no gesticulations are used. Instead, there is a mover and a spectator. The latter has to be there since the doer has to tell someone of the experiences he or she went through during the process. Basically, impulses are availed to the doer, about the actions he or she has to perform. Certain movements will arise from the impulses, which the doer ought to observe.

Gabrielle Roth and Anna Halprin therapies use vibrant practices, which give emphasis to personal progress, cognizance, countenance and sociability. This helps in enhancing muscle synchronization, joint forte, sporting performance and the deterrence of injuries. Due to the fact that this therapy is vigorous in nature, it helps ease emotional tension and anxiety. It also increases blood stream to body organs.

The Aston Patterning remedy focuses much on how daily activities can be done with great ease. It is more of a fitness regime, which comprises warm up procedures, aerobics for sustaining muscle power, stretching and cardiac health.

Rosen therapy taps into our normal pleasurable undertakings such as dancing as a form of exercising. This is often done with music in the background. Focus is on groups with the aim of reinvigorating the body and increasing its poise and stability. Zumba, a widely recognized workout dance routine is the most prominent type of Rosen therapy because it incorporates music, dance and fitness.

Ideokenesis is a therapy which stresses neuromuscular rejuvenation. It uses descriptions to condition the nervous system to rouse the right muscles for an intended body motion. If the nervous system gets a clear report of an intended motion, it will find a way to stimulate muscles to cause the motion. To augment equilibrium when standing for example, one needs to picture lines of movement wandering through their frames.

Varying Your Workouts

Varying Your Workouts
It is good idea to vary your daily running mileage so you have some “light” days in
between heavy training. Avoid running long distances on two consecutive days, unless you
are training for a marathon, to give your body time to recover. Listen to your body and pace
yourself accordingly.
Most importantly,

it is good to cross-train.
Consider biking, swimming, stair-climbing or other activities that will provide a
good aerobic workout while mainly using muscles other than those used during running. A
major benefit of cross training is that it prevents the onset of over-use injuries while
maintaining fitness. For information about cross-training see Chapter 3: Cardiorespiratory
Conditioning. Strength training, especially upper body strength workouts, have become an
important part of a “runner’s” overall workout. It is recommended that you strength train
two to three times a week

Training for a Marathon

If you have been running 35 to 40 miles per week for 1 to 2 months, you have a good
endurance base for running a marathon after 3 additional months (12 weeks) of training
(Table 4-4). To run a marathon, you must complete some long training runs in the weeks
leading up to the marathon. The week that you run the marathon, however, should include
only a few short runs. Your goal for your first marathon should be to complete it.

Other Points to Consider

  • Make sure you eat enough carbohydrates and are well hydrated before the marathon. Refer to The Navy SEAL Nutrition Guide for information about high carbohydrate diets and fluid replacement beverages.
  • Start out slowly and pace yourself.
  • Walk for a while if you get cramps or feel fatigued.
  • Consider the environmental temperature; if it is a hot and humid day, it is especially important to pay attention to your fluid and electrolyte needs

calisthenics.

Proper technique is important when
performing all calisthenics.

If the muscles are not strong enough to perform an exercise properly, other muscles
will come into play. The result: the wrong muscles get developed and can lead to injury.
For example, exercises that are too difficult for the lower abdominals will rely on the hip
flexors. Hip flexors which are relatively stronger than the abdominals, result in the stomach
protruding. This may lead to injury and low-back pain. Proper technique is essential.
The following suggestions should decrease mechanical stress on the low back
during hip flexor exercises:
  • Keeping one foot on the deck minimizes the stress placed on the lower back and spine. Many exercises that require both legs to be off the deck simultaneously can be modified so that one foot is constantly on the deck supporting the low back (Figure 8-1 and Figure 8-2).
  •  Placing a fist under the lower part of the buttocks helps to keep the spine in a neutral position.
  • Lifting the head and slightly rolling the shoulders helps maintain the position of the spine.
  • Performing hip flexor exercises prior to abdominal exercises.

The Easy Way To Teaching Preschool Dance Classes

By Charles Allen

Children are naturally imaginative. They can be tough to manage and hold down, especially toddlers. Teaching them can require the most energy, effort and of course, lots and lots of patience. It is a tougher work to lead them, than what you generally expect.

Because of this, people who try to teach them, does not necessarily have to follow the rules always. In fact, it is best to break the rules, one way or the other, every now and then in Preschool dance classes Calgary. This will give way for more flexible teaching strategies for you, that will provide positive results.

Do not expect that you can teach them to dance the exact same way that you do. Manage your expectations of their movements. Keep it low and allow them to be free willing, so that you can watch them do it their way first, and then go from there. Teach them the moves, but do not focus too much on the idea that they have to dance like someone else entirely.

Try not be too idealistic and let them learn the movements, exploring the capability of their bodies first. Preschoolers cannot go with technicalities yet. Save it for later. For now, mix their playfulness with the dance steps and start from there.

Everything can change. Level of energy, their group dynamics, attention span and their tendency to look for food at the middle of an activity. Never ignore the needs of the children and be flexible to it. Give positive feedback whenever possible.

Do transitions quickly on movements. Give the children the illusion that you are always one step ahead. The truth is, they can be way smarter and faster than you will be. They cannot know that. Prepare music if that is what you are using. Be as close to it as possible. Have a plan but be spontaneous so you can deviate when you need to. Be sure to know what is coming next and get the music ready.

Make yourself the most interesting part of the room. Keep your energy level high for them by lighting up the room with you leading it. Let the tone of your voice vary and maintain your energy for them. Otherwise, they will be inattentive because kids have usually a short attention span. Do not be scared to be goofy for them.

Say what you expect to see, even though they do not really do it yet. This is where imagination comes in. When you think you need to get them to raise their hands but they are not doing it, say as though they are raising their hands. You will be surprised how easily they will follow. Thank them for something they did not do yet, and you will see that they will be doing it.

Teaching is not easy. Especially when it involves children, The challenge is even bigger when it is dancing you are trying to teach them. However, this pays to some extent of amazing results eventually, when you see them doing it on their own. It can be rewarding, no matter the level of performance. After all, children, lost in their own world of innocence, dancing or not, are always a sight to behold.

Open Water Training

Open Water Training

There is no substitute for ocean or lake swimming. Training in open water will force
you to swim straight and develop a cycle of breathing that allows you to look forward in
order to navigate. This is an essential skill for operational swimming. Group swims in open
water are an excellent way to maintain fitness and should be used extensively in SEAL
training programs. Open water training will maximize the training effect of using fins.
For operational open water swimming,
the sidestroke with a flutterkick
is superior to freestyle.
In rough open water and under operational circumstances you may want to combine
a scissor kick with a sidestroke pulling technique to maximize your navigational ability and
watch for breaking waves. However, sculling is as important in the sidestroke as it is in
freestyle. Both arms should be used to incorporate sculling motions and to stabilize the
swimmer's trunk while the kick provides the main thrust. There are stroke efficiency issues
with the sidestroke just as there are in other swimming strokes. Stroke coaching is
invaluable in developing good technique.

Water Temperature Issues

Cold water is an issue to be addressed by SEALs training in open water. Although
the work of swimming generates heat, there is heat loss created by movement of the
swimmer into new “unheated” cold water. Thus, open water swimming may require
various combinations of passive thermal protective gear, in particular, wet suits. The three
determinants for passive thermal protection are:
  • Temperature
  • Length of the swim
  • Effort level
It is important to remember that wet suits operate by allowing the body heat to be
transferred to a layer of water caught between the body and the neoprene material of the
suit. Convective heat loss from the swimmer's body is greatly reduced by this mechanism
and as a result, swimming at a high effort while wearing a wet suit allows the swimmer to
generate and retain heat. Guidelines have been developed for training and are presented in
this section.
Research has established some known “bench mark” facts about operating in a cold
water environment. In very cold water (below 40° F), the unprotected swimmer loses heat
faster than an immobile person immersed in the same cold water. Heat generation simply
does not keep up with losses. The immobile person warms the cold water immediately
around his body thereby limiting total heat loss. However, in moderately cold water
(around 68° F), an elite class swimmer may stay active, and the heat generated by
swimming keeps pace with overall losses (although the swimmer may develop cold feet
and hands). In this situation, the active swimmer outperforms the immobile person with
respect to maintenance of core body temperature. Currently we do not know the crossover
temperature point or the water temperature at which it is better to remain stationary than
active in the water for thermal balance.
Passive thermal protection modifies this balance by reducing the convective
component of heat loss. As a result, a swimmer may extend training durations beyond those
possible without
passive thermal protection. Diving medicine specialists at BUDS have
developed guidelines for use of passive thermal protection during training in cold water
environments. Note that Table 5-2 is limited to high energy swims at a set distance of 2
miles.

Open Water Gear!

Open Water Gear

Gear

In the pure sense the only gear required is a set of trunks. Look at the gear list for
the UDT swimmers at Omaha Beach in 1944. It did not even include fins and masks.
However, today there are some significant gear issues. Goggles are necessary for any real
swim training. Operational and open water swimming requires more gear. There are
specific training aids that help develop strength and technique in pool training. Swimming
is still an inexpensive sport with respect to gear; a complete set of the most expensive
training gear for pool training will not cost over $100.

Wet Suits

Open water swimming may require thermal protection for safety. Males in
particular may be susceptible to hypothermia and the first symptom in an open water
swimmer may be unconsciousness from cardiac arrhythmia. Thermal protection in
swimmers means a wet suit worn over an anti-chafing shirt.
Wet suits designed for open water swimming are generally of a Farmer John design
with the arms free for stroking. In all but the coldest water, a 1/8” wet suit is best for surface
swimming. Unlike diving, there is no need to factor in the loss of insulation due to
compression of the neoprene with depth. However, this is not true for the combat swimmer
operations that may entail prolonged periods in the water.
Anti-chafing shirts are generally made of nylon without elastic properties. Worn
under the wet suit, the nylon shirt allows arm strokes and head rotation without getting
chafing from the wet suit. If you don’t use anti-chafe shirts, then this would not matter.

Muscle Balance and Exercise?

Muscle Balance

It is extremely important to consider muscle balance when designing your
workouts. Building strength in the triceps should be balanced by strengthening the biceps,
and strengthening the quadriceps should be balanced by strengthening the hamstrings.
Without proper balancing of opposing muscle groups, you become vulnerable to
injury.

training a gain

The main goal of a weight training regimen is to produce a gain in overall strength for
operational tasks.
Many exercises can be incorporated into your strength training program. Table 6-
2 presents a list of exercises by specific body parts, all of which are demonstrated in
Appendix A. This translates into a complete body workout from the calves to the neck.

How To Create a Workout?

 Workout

exercises

  • Choose exercises for the upper body, trunk, and lower body
  • Choose exercises that create movementin all three planes
  • Choose exercises that create balance  (push-pull; right-left; front-back
  • Movements should be controlled through a full Range of Motion
  • Movements should be controlled through a full Range of Motion using proper technique
  • Emphasize negative (eccentric) contractions
  • Use multiple variations of each basic movement (e.g., outward push, downward pull)
  • For the trunk, use a variety of static as well as dynamic exercises
  • Be sure to include exercises for the vulnerable or underdeveloped areas
  • Mix up the order of exercises (but alternate push-pull)alternate push-pull)

Triathlete Techniques From Your Triathlon Coach

By Jerry West

Being healthy is very important. Having one gives us a healthy mind and also a healthy soul. That is the most common reason reason why people do exercises despite of their busy schedule at work.

Exercise does not only gives us strength and energy, but it also gives us a physically fit body. There are lot of simple exercise which you can do like biking, running, and swimming. But there are other people who do all of these all altogether and they are called triathletes, and they are trained by their triathlon coach in order to achieve all of these.

Triathletes are athletes who enter into competition which forms three parts and those are the biking, swimming and running. Being like this one, you would have to endure a hard training and do a lot of preparation. Here are some method on how to prepare to become your dream of being a triathlete.

Be equipped. You must be prepared before doing all the necessary work out and exercises. You need to have the apparatus and the right suit to wear. This is in order for you to do the drills and the work out properly.

Organize the drill sessions. When preparing for this kind of race, you must balanced the length of time that you have to spend on training for each category. If you are already good in biking, but is bad in swimming the take longer hours in swimming. But remember, you should not be too much confident for that might cause your failure.

Do the training alone. It is indeed fun to train with your peers but sometimes it helps if you only do your training alone. It would be better for a first timer, like you, to do it alone because you can properly focus on your strengths. You would also be able to know the things which you must to improve and those that need to be lessen a little bit.

Do the drills step by step. Do not be such in a hurry. Remember that you are still a beginner so you must start from step one and do not jump immediately to those complex drills. A proper preparation is also a step by step process. If you would do immediately the hard ones, your body might not be able to cope with it.

Eat a balanced diet. Of course, since you are doing all the trainings, you need to fuel up and eat. However, you must remember that you should only to eat a balanced and healthy diet. Consult your physical fitness trainer or your coach on what is the appropriate meal for you so that you will be properly guided.

Hydrate properly. Water is very essential in our body. It may be juts a plain, transparent liquid but it sure has a lot of nutrients. Make sure that you would always bring water during your training session. You can also try drinking fruit juices and other liquids which has a electrolytes, and other nutrients that are needed by the body.

Interval Sets - Endurance?

Freestyle Swim?

Freestyle Swim: 10 x 50 m with only 5 sec. rest

  • Rest 5 seconds between each swim.
  • Start with efficient “stealth” stroke, work into distance race pace. Don't overkick.
  • Try to match your 1000 meter pace with this set.

Freestyle Swim: 50-50-100 m with 5 sec. rest

  • Swim 2 x 50 meters with 5 seconds rest, then swim 100 meters: Repeat 3X.
  • This set builds into a 100 meter swim where the swimmer tries to match thepace set in the 50 meters.
  • Back off of the 50 meters a little to save up for the 100 meters.
  • If you want, add an extra 15 seconds of rest between each 50-50-100 to keepthe quality up
  • A “buildup” set like this will do great things for your endurance and sense ofpace

Freestyle Swim: 10 x 100 m with 10 sec. rest

  • Rest 10 seconds between each 100 meter swim.
  • Swim smoothly and efficiently. This is the set where you may exceed your long, slow swimming 1000 meter time

Breaststroke Swim: 50-50-100 m - 5 sec. rest

  • Done like the freestyle 50-50-100 set outlined above.
  • Concentrate on keeping effort level up.
